$15

do you ever feel like you are getting ripped off at an op shop? then you get home and you realise that you have a bounty of treasures worth WAY more than you paid and you feel all uncharitable and mean......

today i baulked at the prices in my local opshop and just look at these gems!

brown sandles / gold japanese writing on soles
wire basket / mustard enamel container
knitting needles case (not pictured)
two little doilies for a craft project
and the most amazing home handicraft book

*contented sigh*

mama in town

my mum is visiting all the way from perth! and for the first time in my life EVER i am having some 'just mum' time. that means - heaps of long walks, chattering about babies, garden talk, op-shopping AND scavenging.

yes scavenging! i'm proud to say that i'm a country girl and our family could never resist a good road-side pick-up or a trip to the tip. you just wait till you see the lamp my mum and i scavenged from the side of the railway yesterday! k just laughed and wandered off to save himself the embarassment......

(oh and happy birthday to my big brother - 29! he's currently living in madrid, spain and is off to the coast of africa for his birthday. i love you and miss you!)

op shop gold!

discovered a new warehouse op-shop over the tram bridge, down the road from our house

most success i've had in the clothing department for a while - take that! expensive country road knits that i can't afford......

(i'm also regretting not buying this oatmeal pure wool, button up vest.....)

saturday

what a lovely day was saturday! kee decided to look up any op shops in our vicinity that we hadn't been to yet - so we set off in the morning (oh blessed 18 degrees!) and explored. Found great records (K's object of lust), beautiful vintage kniting patterns, some great furniture (which we were undecided upon) and some great wool. We had lunch at Mule and then trudged home exhausted. It was so lovely to just do what we felt without having any plans. We also stopped at this amazing lebanese bakery and ate the most amazingly fresh and beautiful herbed pita bread. oh yeah!

we spent the afternoon watching season 5 of the wire (oh yeah!) and kee made an amazingly beautiful vege lasagne and we drank it with a sparkling rose - delightful.

(can you see the sneak peek of my crochet blanket i've been working on!)
